A Little History 

Like the rest of the Greater Phoenix area, Maricopa's history has an agricultural base. With available water at Maricopa Wells, this town became an important stop for the Butterfield Overland Mail Line. A rail line from Maricopa to Phoenix, constructed in the late 19th century, is now a thoroughfare for cars known as Maricopa Road, or the John Wayne Parkway.

Maricopa offers residents and businesses the experience of a small-town atmosphere that is within a short distance to two major metropolitan areas. Maricopa is Arizona’s 88th municipality, incorporated on October 15, 2003.The City’s population is 43,482, according to the 2010 Census. That is a 4081% increase over 2000 Census  numbers. Maricopa is approximately 45 square miles, with a planning area of 278 square miles. The average household income in Maricopa is $75,000; this is among the highest in the state of Arizona. Approximately 88% of adult residents have some post-high school education and 47% hold a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree. Playing in Maricopa  

Our local Parks, Sports and Recreation is a great place for activities indoors and outside. 

Our city has two large parks: Copper Sky Multi-Generational Center and Pacana Park. The 140-acre Copper Sky Recreation Complex includes a multi-generational and aquatics center, park facilities and lake, baseball/softball fields, multipurpose fields, and many other park amenities. Pacana Park is an approximately 28-acres facility that features amenities for the entire family to enjoy. The park is located at 19000 North Porter Road.

Looking for an entertainment venue all under one roof, check out the UltraStar Multitainment  Center at Ak-Chin next to Harrah's Casino. It has movie theaters with Star-Class seating, 3 restaurants, Bowling, Games, and Laser Tag!
